I am a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the
Management Division at Columbia Business School.
I hold a Ph.D. in Psychology from Columbia University, an MBA from Columbia Business School, an MSc in Economics from the University of London, Birkbeck College, UK, and a bachelor’s degree in law from Università Cattolica in Milan, Italy. Prior to my Ph.D., I began my career at Hewlett Packard in Milan, where I trained as both a private and corporate lawyer before joining Goldman Sachs, where I worked for thirteen years. During my tenure at Goldman Sachs, I held various positions in London and New York, focusing primarily on transaction services and people management. I led strategic efforts to enhance trade processing management, automation, and performance improvement. I served as the Chief of Staff for Commodities and Currency Operations across the US, Europe, and Asia at Goldman Sachs for three years before joining the Columbia Graduate School.
I study how people can create a shared understanding and reality with each other. By exchanging different perspectives, individuals can build a common ground that significantly affects relationships, communication, and overall well-being. I also explore how this process relates to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) goals. In a world where people are divided, my research emphasizes the importance of gradually establishing shared ground, promoting ongoing idea exchange and collaboration. Additionally, I am developing an intervention for students to learn practical skills in collaboration and relationship building, based on the concept of cocreating a shared reality. I strive to empower individuals across disciplines with tools for collaborative synergy, empathetic connection, and mutual understanding.
This course conceived and developed by Federica, delves into the essence of motivation and its integral role in goal attainment across a variety of domains.
